Men’s basketball climbs in national rankings; women remain No. 4 ahead of marquee matchup

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers basketball programs continue to sit among the nation's best, with both teams ranked inside the top seven in the CCAA week three national rankings. The women's team holds steady at No. 4 for a third straight week, while the men move up five spots to No. 7.

Both teams remain undefeated – Mohawk's women at 6-0 and the men at 7-0 – marking the first time in recorded program history that both squads have been unbeaten this deep into a season.

Their biggest challenge this season comes on November 19 when they visit the Humber Hawks in Etobicoke, Ont.

Humber's women enter the matchup 5-0 and ranked No. 7 nationally, while the Hawks men sit atop the national rankings at No. 1 with a 6-0 record.

It is also the first time in recorded OCAA basketball history that two schools will meet with both their men's and women's teams undefeated this far into a season.

On the women's side, the matchup is a rematch of the 2024-25 OCAA championship game. Last season, the teams split their regular season series with the home team winning both contests.

On the men's side, Humber has taken the last three regular season meetings. Mohawk's most recent win over the Hawks came on Nov. 9, 2023, and their last road victory was on Nov. 2, 2022.

The women's game tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
