Chris McColl

Background:
Chris McColl was announced as the Mohawk Mountaineers softball coach prior to the 2023 season. 

McColl is a former men's senior and intermediate pitcher and long-time pitching coach. Since 2003, McColl has been a constant in the softball community, helping coach numerous athletes who have gone to continue their softball careers at the post-secondary level across North America.

A retired Peel police officer, McColl has coaching experience with the Toronto Fastpitch Club and Brampton Girls Softball Association (BGSA) where he was a pitching instructor. He also spent time as an assistant coach for the BGSA junior women's team for four seasons, winning a national championship in 2004.

In addition to his extensive coaching resume, McColl has also had a long and successful playing career on the diamond, and is a well-respected athlete and competitor within the men's game.

At Mohawk:

2023 Season:
In his first season as head coach, McColl guided the Mountaineers to a nine win improvement from the season prior. The team showcased strides of improvement throughout the season, and fell one win shy of a OCAA medal game. Mohawk defeated Fanshawe in a playoff game before losing to both Durham and Humber. 

2024 Season:
The 2024 season was a growth year for the Mountaineers with eight new additions to the roster. In the second half of the year, the team started to come together and missed the playoffs by two games.

2025 Season:
The culture shift continued for the program in 2025 with 11 new additions to the roster. To conclude the season, the Mountaineers won four of their final five games, missing the postseason by two games once again.
