Mountaineers end regular season with a draw versus Knights

Mohawk will enter playoffs as the OCAA west division three seed

(WELLAND) – Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer concluded regular season play in a 1-1 tie versus the Niagara Knights.
 
After winning six of their first seven matches, the Mountaineers played to two ties and one loss in their final three to end the season 6-2-2.
 
Offensively, Mohawk outshot Niagara 21-12 for the match but both teams only found the back of the net once.
 
Scoring started in the 32nd minute by the Knights, but the Mountaineers responded in the 41st minute with an Isabelle Udovc (Grimsby, ON) goal, assisted by Cassandra Campanella (Hamilton, ON).
 
The second half was scoreless with Mohawk getting off 11 shots compared to Niagara's 5.
 
OCAA playoffs begin Oct. 18 with the Mountaineers hosting at St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School. The match will begin at 7 p.m. with the opponent for Mohawk still to be determined.
