Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Defence pushes Mountaineers to sixth straight win

Mohawk receives 17-points from Angong Jacob

BRAMPTON – A strong defensive team-effort put Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball on top 72-36 versus the Sheridan Bruins.

In the first quarter Mohawk scored 27 points on 45 per cent shooting. While they shot the ball well to start, it was what they did on defence through the first 10 minutes. Sheridan was held to one field goal on eight shots and socred seven points.

Angong Jacob (Calgary, AB) led the Mountaineers with 17 points and added six rebounds. Maegan Dorris (Brantford, ON) and Skyla Minaker (Sarnia, ON) both finished with 13.

The Mountaineers defence continued to hold strong all game with the Bruins not scoring more than 13 in a quarter. Mohawk once again locked in defenively in the fourth, holding Sheridan to one made shot again and six total points.

With a 6-1 record the Mountaineers are currently tied for second in the OCAA West.

Mohawk will be back in action at home on Dec. 1 when they host the Lambton Lions at 6 p.m.
