(HAMILTON) – The Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer team secured a 3-0 victory over the St. Clair Saints, improving their record to 4-1.
Mohawk has shutout their opponents in all four of their victories.
Alyssa Glasbergen (Burlington, ON) netted all three of the Mountaineers goals. The first coming in the 16th minute off an assist from Felicity Albano (Hamilton, ON), and the second also came in the first half during a scramble in front of the Saints net and Glasbergen buried it home unassisted.
It's the first time in her OCAA career the second-year striker has had a multi-goal match.
Glasbergen would then successfully get her first career hattrick in the 70th minute off an assist from Janelle Lammers (Frankford, ON).
"We knew we had to compete going into today," said Glasbergen. "We brought the energy we needed and did what we needed to do (to win)."
Goalkeeper Mia Hadley (Milton, ON) also delivered an outstanding performance, making crucial saves on all seven St. Clair shots on goal. It is Hadley's second shutout in three starts.
Mohawk is back in action on Sept. 27 at Tim Hortons Field when they host their cross-city rival Redeemer Royals. The match begins at 6 p.m. and can be streamed on OCAA Live.
