Box Score (HAMILTON) – The No. 15 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer team picked up their third consecutive win, defeating the Redeemer Royals 2-1.
The first few minutes of the first half started slow, but Mohawk's Isabella Udovc (Grimsby, ON) ignited the team's scoring with an assist from Jaiden Morgan (Burlington, ON) in the 20th minute.
In the second half, Morgan continued the momentum by scoring in the 55th minute.
Morgan, who was named both OCAA Star of the Week and CCAA Star of the Week, now has six goals and three assists in the Mountaineers last three matches.
Redeemer managed to find the back of the net in the 88th minute to cut the Mohawk lead in half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Mountaineers.
"We came out strong," said head coach Paul Gianini. "We allowed them to build some momentum and confidence, but to be a good team, sometimes you need to win ugly, and that's what the girls did."
Mohawk will be on the road for their next match as they head to Kitchener, ON to play the Conestoga Condors on Sept. 30.
