Mountaineers close regular season with draw against No. 6 Knights

WELLAND, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer team wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a 1-1 draw against the No. 6 nationally ranked Niagara Knights on Wednesday.

With the result, the Mountaineers finished the campaign with a 3-5-2 record and secured at least the seventh seed in the OCAA West Division.

Mohawk took a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute when Madison Rodriguez (Hamilton, Ont.) scored her second goal of the season. Niagara equalized in the 78th minute to bring the match even.

Goalkeeper Mia Hadley (Milton, Ont.) made a season-high eight saves in the match.

The Mountaineers now await their official seeding as the rest of the division completes regular-season play this weekend. Mohawk will travel for an OCAA crossover match on Oct. 15, with their opponent and location still to be determined.
