Eighth overall finish for Mountaineers men’s cross country at CCAA Championships

WINDSOR, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's cross country placed eighth overall at the 2024 CCAA Championships.

The team result was three spots better than a year ago when the Mountaineers finished 11^th.

Albert Lanting (Caledonia, Ont.) was the lead runner for Mohawk, placing 20^th overall. Sage Sulentic (Dundas, Ont.) followed behind in 39^th, Yassin Saleh (Hamilton, Ont.) placed 54^th, Thomas Spring (Waterdown, Ont.) completed the race in 63^rd, Santiago Mendoza (Mississauga, Ont.) finished 65^th, and Thomas Giammichele (Carlisle, Ont.) was 71^st.

It was an overall great showing for the Mountaineer men's team, who claimed a silver medal two weeks ago at the OCAA Championships.

The Mountaineers also claimed the CCAA bronze medal in the newly introduced mixed division, which combined the top three finishers from both the men's and women's races to determine an overall champion. Mohawk's trio of Lanting, Sulentic and Salen, along with Annie Sterenberg (Vineland, Ont.), Tori Hendriks (Beamsville, Ont.) and Zoe Thibault (Grimsby, Ont.) of the women's team, contributed to the podium-finish.
