Mountaineers battle in four set playoff loss

Mohawk eliminated by Centennial in first round

SCARBOROUGH – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team has been eliminated from the OCAA playoffs after a 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 23-25, 22-25) loss to the Centennial Colts.
 
The Mountaineers entered the match as the OCAA west division seventh seed and the Colts were the two seed out of the east division.
 
Both teams looked equally matched in the opening set but it was Mohawk pulling away to take an early 1-0 set lead.
 
Centennial was the superior team in the second set, but the Mountaineers battled tough in the third and fourth sets, however they just could not limit their errors to steal the win.
 
Alex Jurak (St. Catharines, ON) finished with 11 kills and three blocks. Jacob Gasiorowski (Hamilton, ON) had an impressive seven blocks in the match.
 
Mohawk's season ends following a 7-11 record and their fourth straight playoff appearance.
