Mountaineers fall to Falcons; lose third consecutive

HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer lost their third consecutive match following a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Fanshawe Falcons.
 
Fanshawe jumped out to a 2-0 lead following goals in the ninth and 13th minutes of the contest.
 
Mohawk responded quickly in the second half as Hamza Salman (Hamilton, Ont.) scored his third of the season in the 56th minute.
 
The momentum seemed to have been in the Mountaineers hands, but around the 60th minute the match became chippy with a bit of a delay as the official worked to bring everything to a calm.
 
It was the Falcons who used the stoppage in play to their advantage, regaining their two-goal lead and later adding two additional scores.
 
Mohawk hopes to turn things around as they head into the second half of the season on Sept. 28 versus the Conestoga Condors. The match will be played in Cambridge, Ont. at 6 p.m.
