Jamie Girolametto

Background:
Jamie Girolametto was named the 10th head coach in Mountaineers men's basketball history on May 5, 2023. 

Born and raised in Hamilton, Girolametto is a well-known basketball coach at both the high school and OCAA level.

Prior to joining Mohawk, Girolametto was the head coach of the Redeemer University Royals for 10 seasons. During his decade spent with the Royals, Girolametto posted a 98-90 regular season record and led the program to five consecutive OCAA Championship Tournament appearances between 2016-2020 and the 2021-22 season. In the 2017-18 season, Girolametto was named the OCAA Coach of the Year.

In 2011-12, Girolametto was an assistant coach at McMaster University under Canadian basketball legend Joe Raso. 

Furthermore, Girolametto coached for more than a decade at St. Mary's Catholic Secondary and spent time coaching Blessed Sacrament and the Ancaster Magic at the club-level. 


Prior to Coaching:
Girolametto was a dual-sport athlete at St. Mary's, capturing two Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board titles and two combined OFSAA Championships in basketball and soccer. 

His playing career would continue at the post-secondary level when he played for the McMaster Marauders from 1993 to 1997. There he won three OUA Championships and made four CIAU (now U Sports) appearances, winning two national silver medals.


At Mohawk:

2023-24 Season:
In his first season with the Mountaineers, Girolametto guided the program to an 11-7 record and third-place finish in the OCAA West Division. Mohawk would defeat the Loyalist Lancers 98-96 in the opening round of conference playoffs before being ousted in the quarter-final round by the George Brown Huskies, 101-90. 

The Mountaineers ranked in the CCAA National Rankings eight times out of 11 weeks , ranking as high as ninth in the country.
