Davide Massafra

Background:
Davide Massafra was named the Mountaineers men's soccer head coach in February 2025.

Massafra moved to Canada only a few years prior to joining Mohawk after growing up in Italy, where he played  competitively until the age of 17 and also began his coaching career.

His international coaching experience also includes a stint in the United States, where he served as Technical Director for Empire United, a member of the MLS Elite Youth Development Platform, as well as in Spain, England and Malta. 

His time in Canada has included leading Empire Niagara Soccer Academy for over five years as Technical Director before taking on the role with St. Catharines Roma. With Roma, Massafra oversees their house league and League1 programs. 

Massafra has a bachelor of sports science and a masters in sports science and sports psychology from the University of Perugia. 

At Mohawk:

2025 Season:
In his first campaign leading the Mountaineers, Massafra guided the team to a 1-4-5 record - a significant improvement from an 1-8-1 record the season prior. Of the four losses Mohawk surrendered in 2025, three were by one goal with the defeating goal coming in the 81st minute or later. 

What made the first season under Massafra so special was Mohawk winning its first playoff game since 2016, defeating the Centennial Colts 3-2 in extra time. The Mountaineers season ended in the OCAA quarter-final round.
