Kelsey Kovar

Kelsey Kovar spent two seasons as the the Mohawk Mountaineers women's volleyball head coach, being named to the role prior to the 2022-23 season. She guided the program to an OCAA bronze medal in her first season. 

Kovar also oversees the Recreation and Student Engagement portfolio in Athletics and will continue in the position while also leading the women's volleyball program.  

Kovar began her post-secondary playing career with Valdosta State University (NCAA Division II). Following her two seasons down south, Kovar entered the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) with the Humber Hawks. She played two seasons with the Hawks, winning two OCAA provincial championships and a CCAA National bronze medal.

In 2017, Kovar took a year off from playing the sport and joined the coaching world with the Mountaineers. She would become an assistant coach on Matthew Schnarr's staff for one season.

One season later Kovar played her final collegiate eligibility year with Mohawk, helping the program to a top five provincial finish. She would return to the coaching staff for one more season as an assistant in 2019.

In addition to her post-secondary experience, Kovar has coached club volleyball for Hamilton's Smash Raiders. This past season the club had a top five finish in Ontario.

Kovar's education background includes studying Exercise Science at Valdosta State, a Fitness and Health Promotion degree from Humber, a degree in Recreation Therapy from Mohawk and a Recreation and Leisure Studies degree from Brock University.
