No. 1 Mountaineers men place first again; No. 2 Mohawk women claim second at Centennial Invitational

Sage Sulentic adds another podium finish; Annie Sterenberg places third

(SCARBOROUGH) – The No. 1 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's cross country team placed first at the Centennial Invitational, while the No. 2 nationally ranked women's team claimed second.

It was the third time in as many races the men topped the podium this season. For the women it was their second race where they placed second, while having a first-place finish two weeks ago.

Once again Sage Sulentic claimed the silver medal in the men's race as he has consistently been second throughout the OCAA season. Albert Lanting and Matias Tessel joined Sulentic in the top-10, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.

Yassin Saleh was not far behind the top-10, placing 14th overall. Other Mohawk finishes included Will Summers at 21st and Tyler Karl at 40th.

Annie Sterenberg had her best race of the season for the women, coming across the finish line with a podium finish at third.

Mohawk had four women in the top-21 with Jordynne Kinrade, Ava Snyder and Brooklyn Skoog placing 19th, 20th and 21st. Snyder, who has had podium finishes in the previous two races, paced herself at the Centennial Invitation, the final race before the OCAA Championship.

Additionally, Jovana Rivera placed 27th and Paola Gomez finished at 48th.

The championship race is scheduled to take place on Oct. 28 at Conestoga College. A double-podium finish will send both Mountaineer teams to the CCAA Championship in Truro, Nova Scotia in November.
