Box Score (HAMILTON) – A strong defensive performance by Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball was the leading factor to a 70-45 home opener victory over the Conestoga Condors.
It is the Mountaineers first win of the season as their record is now an even 1-1.
On the defensive end, Mohawk held Conestoga to 29.7 per cent shooting and 15.4 per cent from three. In each of the first three quarters the Condors were held to 10 points or less, while the Mountaineers outscored their opponents in all four quarters.
Mohawk as a team shot 50 per cent from the field led by
Tatjana Boskovic's (Hamilton, ON) 17-points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.
Maddie Anderson (Whitby, ON) and
Angong Jacob (Calgary, AB) added 14-points each, with Anderson also grabbing seven rebounds and assisting five times. Off the bench
Tiffany Williams (Hamilton, ON) scored 12 on six-of-eight scoring.
The Mountaineers will now get more than a week off as they won't return to the court until Nov. 4, which is Super Saturday at Mohawk with all four court sports taking the floor versus the Redeemer Royals. Mohawk women's basketball will start off the eventful day with a 1 p.m. tip-off.
