Fourth quarter collapse costs No. 9 Mountaineers

Mohawk led by 15 after three quarters

(ANCASTER) – A tough fourth quarter was the difference maker for No. 9 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball. Up 15 following three quarters the Mountaineers lost 89-85 to the Redeemer Royals.
 
Mohawk shot 46.7 per cent in the first quarter to open the game with a 22-12 lead. The Mountaineers and Royals played a close second, but coming out of the halftime break Mohawk scored 25 in the third, extending their lead before the final quarter.
 
In the final frame Mohawk's offense went cold. They shot two-of-14 from the field and missed all six three-point attempts, despite shooting a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity line. In turn Redeemer shot 10-of-18 from the field and scored 35-points to upset the Mountaineers.
 
Jerry Jr. Mercury had a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds in the game. Additionally, Cale Calura (Hamilton, ON) had 14 points, Harpreet Gill (Brampton, ON scored 11 and Marko Dosen (Hamilton, ON) off the bench scored 10.
 
Mohawk will look to bounce back on Nov. 22 when they play in London, ON versus the Fanshawe Falcons at 8 p.m.
