Mountaineers fly by Falcons with 18-point win

Tatjana Boskovic finishes with first career double-double

LONDON – The good times keep rolling for Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball with their fifth consecutive win, defeating the Fanshawe Falcons 76-58.
 
Its Mohawk's first five-game win streak since the 2017-18 season and they have matched their total victories from a year ago.
 
It was a great opening 10 minutes for the Mountaineers, jumping out to a 26-14 lead. Mohawk shot 55 per cent from the field in the first quarter while holding Fanshawe to 25 per cent.
 
Prior to halftime the Mountaineers would extend their lead to 19 with another strong defensively quarter. The Falcons in the second frame shot 21.1 per cent from the field.
 
The Falcons came flying back in the third quarter, holding the Mountaineers to 15-points. But a 17-8 fourth quarter run for Mohawk secured the deal.
 
The Mountaineers finished the game with 42 points in the paint and 18 points off 18 Falcons turnovers.
 
Tatjana Boskovic (Hamilton, ON) picked up her first career double-double, leading Mohawk with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Angong Jacob (Calgary, AB) also added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Skyler Minaker (Sarnia, ON) was the third starter to finish in double digits with 10.
 
The Mountaineers bench added a combined 26 points, while the team outrebounded Fanshawe 60-45.
 
Up next for Mohawk is a matchup versus the Sheridan Bruins in Brampton on Nov. 25 at 1 p.m.
