Mountaineers point streak ends; lose 5-1 to Saints

Poor first half start cost Mohawk men’s soccer

(HAMILTON) – Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer faced a tough match against the St. Clair Saints, ultimately losing with a final score of 5-1.

The Saints took an early lead in the first half, scoring four goals.

They added another goal in the 47th minute of the second half.

Mohawk's Emidio Refosco (Hamilton, ON) managed to score the team's first and only goal in the 90th minute. Notably, this marked Refosco's first goal of the season.

"We made some silly mistakes in the first half and we got punished," said head coach Jordan Brown. "All good teams do, so it is what it is, we'll move forward."

The Mountaineers will be back in action Sept. 27, hosting the Redeemer Royals at Tim Hortons Field. Game begins at 8 p.m. and can be streamed on OCAA Live.
