No. 10 Mountaineers win streak snapped by Lions

Mohawk rebounding struggles lead to loss

SARNIA – The No. 10 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers had their nine-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Lambton Lions, 76-54.
 
The Mountaineers faced rebounding struggles throughout the game, being outmatched by the Lions 53-38. Lambton would score 25 second chance points.
 
Mohawk also found themselves down 11-0 to begin the game and could not recover the rest of the way.
 
As a team the Mountaineers shot 35.2 per cent from the field and only 30.4 per cent from three.
 
Maddie Anderson (Whitby, ON) had a team-high 21-points, knocking down three threes. Angong Jacob (Calgary, AB) added 12 and Peyton Connolly (Hamilton, ON) had 10 for the Mountaineers.
 
With the loss Mohawk's record drops to 9-2.
 
Up next for the Mountaineers is a matchup versus the St. Clair Saints on Jan. 20 with tip-off at 2 p.m.
