Straight set loss for Mountaineers versus Falcons

LONDON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball lost in straight sets 3-0 (21-25, 14-25, 23-25) to the Fanshawe Falcons.
 
The Mountaineers looked good early, leading the Falcons 18-15 late in the first set. Fanshawe would make a push to even it 18-18, and then at 20-20 the Falcons scored five of the next six points to take the opening set.
 
Fanshawe was in complete control in the second set as they led 18-8 and would not let up to go up two-sets-to-none.
 
The third set was much more equal on both sides of the net until the Falcons took a 15-10 lead. Mohawk pushed back to finally get even at 22-22 and then Fanshawe held match point at 24-22 before the Mountaineers brought it even again at 24-24. The Falcons would score the next two points for the win.
 
Mohawk will look for their first victory of the season when they host their home opener on Oct. 26. They'll play the Conestoga Condors at 3 p.m. inside the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
