ANCASTER, Ont. – A two-game win streak for the Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team was ended at the hands of the Redeemer Royals following a five-set match. The Royals defeated the Mountaineers 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 18-25, 25-20, 12-15).

Set two was competitive as well with the Royals holding a slight lead. Mohawk got within two-points at 16-14, but Redeemer quickly extended that lead to 19-14. The Royals sustained the advantage to even the match 1-1.

In set three Redeemer held a small three-point lead at 15-12 and then scored extended their lead at 20-15. Once again, the momentum favoured the home side as they took a 2-1 match lead.

The Royals looked in control in the fourth set as well, leading 13-8 and continued to lead by five at 15-10. Mohawk began to find some rhythm to get within two at 15-13 and then took the lead at 20-19. It was at 7-7 in the fifth set when things began to slip away for Mohawk. The Royals scored three straight to force a Mountaineer timeout. Out of the break, Mohawk scored five of the next six to even the set at 12-12. Redeemer would be the ones to call a timeout and they responded.
