Box Score ETOBICOKE – A cold shooting night for the No. 10 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers resulted in an 84-59 loss to the No. 12 nationally ranked Humber Hawks.

The Mountaineers shot 28.2 per cent from the field for the game, eight-of-28 from three and shot below 50 per cent from the free throw line. Mohawk also turned the ball over 21 times for 25 Humber points.

In the opening minutes of the game the Mountaineers and Hawks were tied 5-5, but Humber would takeover on a 9-0 run and not look back for the rest of the game. After the first 10 minutes though the Hawks only led 18-13.

In the second quarter the Mountaineers continued to be cold offensively, being held to 12 points. Humber would extend their lead to 42-25 at halftime.

Mohawk's offense would wake up in the third quarter as they shot 50 per cent from the field and made four threes. Iverson Chong (Oakville, ON) scored 10 of his game-high 17 in the third.

But while the Mountaineers offense started to get going, the Hawks continued to roll. Mohawk would only cut into the Humber lead by one.

In the final frame the struggles returned for the Mountaineers, as they were limited to three field goals and shot zero-for-seven from three.

The loss means Mohawk can no longer clinch the second seed in the OCAA West. Where the Mountaineers finish in the division will come down to their final regular season game on Feb. 7 when they host the Fanshawe Falcons for an 8 p.m. tip.

A win will lock Mohawk into the three seed in the west division, but a loss could potentially drop them to the fourth seed.
