Mountaineers handed second straight loss by Knights

HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer struggled to take advantage of scoring opportunities, resulting in a 4-1 loss to the Niagara Knights.
 
The Mountaineers gave up two goals in the opening half, putting themselves in a tough situation for the final 45 minutes.
 
Despite holding the second half shot advantage (10-3) Mohawk was unable to capitalize while Niagara's goalkeeper Nolan Freel made save after save.
 
The Mountaineers did find one in the 72nd minute with Hamza Salman (Hamilton, Ont.) scoring his second of the season. But the Knights responded quickly scoring their fourth of the game in the 73rd minute.
 
With the loss Mohawk's record drops to 1-2-1.
 
Next up for the Mountaineers is a matchup versus the Fanshawe Falcons at Tim Hortons Field on Sept. 25. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
