Mountaineers salvage a point in draw versus Saints

WINDSOR, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer nearly secured three points versus the St. Clair Saints, but a late goal by the opponents resulted in a 2-2 draw.
 
The Mountaineers looked good early as they led 2-0 at halftime. Luc Sabatino (Hamilton, Ont.) scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute, and first-year Joaquin Cabrera (Hamilton, Ont.) followed eight minutes later.
 
St. Clair would get one back four minutes into the second half. The equalizer for the Saints would come in extra time, bringing the two squads to an even draw.
 
Despite picking up the one point, the Mountaineers were outshot 24-6 in the match.
 
Mohawk now has four points on the season as they will get ready for a match versus the Conestoga Condors on Sept. 14 at St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
