HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer team let a two-goal lead slip away and settled for a 2-2 draw with the Sheridan Bruins on Wednesday.
Emidio Refosco (Hamilton, Ont.) opened the scoring in the 13th minute, heading in a Michael Ciarmoli (Stoney Creek, Ont.) free kick. Mohawk doubled its lead in the 31st when Luc Sabatino's (Hamilton, Ont.) through ball found Ciarmoli, who slotted it home.
The Mountaineers looked in control for much of the match until the 84th minute, when Sheridan cut the deficit in half. Mohawk nearly restored its cushion moments later, but Juan Franco's (Hamilton, Ont.) shot rang off the post.
The Bruins equalized in stoppage time to earn the draw.
Mohawk's record now sits at 1-3-4. The Mountaineers will visit the St. Clair Saints in Windsor, Ont. on Oct. 4.
