Mountaineers settle for draw with Falcons

LONDON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer has earned at least one point in each of their first three games of the season following a 3-3 draw versus the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Mountaineers were down early after the Falcons scored in the eighth minute of the match. Mohawk evened the score in the 22nd minutes when Valerie Laroche (Brantford, Ont.) scored her first of the season.

Fanshawe regained the advantage in the 33rd minute, but Mohawk had an immediate response in the 35th minute to bring the match even again. Hannah Kelly (Niagara Falls, Ont.) scored her first of the season to bring the match to a tie.

Alyssa Glasbergen (Burlington, Ont.) then found the back of the net just before halftime to give Mohawk a 3-2 lead.

The Mountaineers could not hold the advantage in the second half as the match was once again even after a Falcons goal in the 69th minute.

Madison Rodriguez (Hamilton, Ont.) , Rachel Guddemi (Paris, Ont.) and Laroche had an assist each in the contest.

Mohawk returns home for their next match when they host the St. Clair Saints at St. Mary Catholic Secondary on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
