Soffee, Mladjan named Mountaineers Athletes of the Week

HAMILTON, Ont. – Vanessa Soffee (Fredericton, NB) of the women's basketball team and Milos Mladjan (Hamilton, Ont.) of men's basketball have been named the Mohawk Mountaineers Athletes of the Week for the period of January 19-25.

Vanessa Soffee
Year: 5
Position: Guard

Soffee played a key role as the Mountaineers women's basketball team improved to 12-0 with an 82-59 win over the Niagara Knights. The fifth-year guard finished with eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists. She ranks third in the OCAA in steals, averaging 3.6 per game.

Milos Mladjan
Year: 4
Position: Centre

Mladjan came off the bench to provide an immediate spark in the Mountaineers' 24-point win over the Canadore Panthers. The centre finished with 12 points, six rebounds and one block, adding energy on defence and a couple highlight-reel dunks.

A member of the men's basketball program since the 2018-19 season, Mladjan has battled back from injuries. His performance against the Panthers was his strongest since the 2022-23 season, showing the impact the talented big man can provide.

Athlete of the Week honours are presented by Booster Juice. Located in the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre, Booster Juice is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
