PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Mountaineers look to revenge 2022 quarter-final loss

Mohawk and Durham meet for second consecutive year

(OSHAWA) – The Mohawk Mountaineers and Durham Lords are set to meet in the OCAA women's soccer quarter-final match for the second consecutive year.

The Matchup:
 
Mohawk advanced to the quarter-final round following a 3-2 come from behind victory over the Fanshaw Falcons. The Mountaineers, who entered postseason play as the three seed in the west division, fell behind the Falcons 2-0 early but found their way back, scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute.
 
Durham is the two seed from the east division with an 8-1-1 regular season record. The Lords defeated the St. Lawrence Surge in the qualifying round 6-2 to advance.
 
Previous Matchup and History:
 
These two teams met in exhibition play this year on Aug. 30 at Tim Hortons Field. It was the Lords who came out on top 2-0.
 
In the 2022 OCAA quarter-final round when Mohawk and Durham played each other, the Lords won 1-0. The lone goal was scored in the 50th minute of the match.

The Mountaineers and Lords will kick-off at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Vaso's Field in Oshawa, ON. The winner will advance to the OCAA semi-final round.
