Mountaineers extend point streak to three games

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer team stretched their point streak to three games Friday night with a 1-1 draw against the St. Clair Saints.

After withstanding sustained first-half pressure, Mohawk opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Kalimar Russell (Hamilton, Ont.) buried his first of the season. The goal was set up by teammate Luc Sabatino, (Hamilton, Ont.).

The Saints responded early in the second half, equalizing in the 49th minute. Despite being outshot 11-4, Mohawk was able to hold the match even.

Mountaineers goalkeeper Marco Ferrusi (Hamilton, Ont.) finished with five saves.

Mohawk will look to build on the streak Saturday at 3 p.m. when they host the Lambton Lions at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School.
