HAMILTON, Ont. – The No. 11 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team closed out its home schedule for the 2025-26 season with a 102-94 win over the Sheridan Bruins on Saturday.
With the victory, Mohawk finished the season a perfect 9-0 on its home court.
The Mountaineers opened the game on a 7-0 run, but Sheridan responded to take a 12-11 lead. The Bruins extended their advantage to five late in the first quarter and led 23-20 after one.
Mohawk tied the game at 30-30 with just over three minutes into the second quarter. The teams traded leads until an 11-3 run gave the Mountaineers a 50-41 advantage. Mohawk carried a 52-46 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Mohawk pushed its lead to nine with 2:34 remaining, but Sheridan answered with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to one. The Mountaineers closed the quarter strong and took a 74-66 lead into the fourth.
Mohawk built its largest lead of the game at 16 with 7:02 remaining, but the Bruins cut the margin to four with 1:20 left. Back-to-back baskets from Marko Dosen (Hamilton, Ont.) and Jerry Jr. Mercury (Scarborough, Ont.) restored an eight-point cushion, and Mohawk held on for the win.
Five Mountaineers scored in double figures, led by Dosen with 18 points. Iverson Chong (Oakville, Ont.) and Eltom Adam (Hamilton, Ont.) added 17 each, while Scott Jenkins (Hamilton, Ont.) had 14 and Kazim Raza (Markham, Ont.) chipped in 13.
Mohawk will learn its playoff seeding Feb. 7 when it closes the regular season against the Fanshawe Falcons in London, Ont. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
