Extra time goal lands Mountaineers a point

Mohawk secures seventh seed heading into playoffs

Box Score (WELLAND) – An extra time goal in the second half evened it up between the Mohawk Mountaineers and Niagara Knights as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

It was the Knights who opened the scoring in the 43^rd minute to take a 1-0 lead into half.

The Mountaineers responded quickly in the second half with Nicholas Bocian scoring in the 50^th minute off a Hamza Salman assist.

Niagara would regain the lead in the 74^th minute putting Mohawk on the brink of extending their losing streak to close out the season.

However, it would be Bocian once again, scoring in extra time to bring the match even at 2-2.

With the draw the Mountaineers snapped a five-game losing streak and close out the regular season with a 2-6-1 record.

Mohawk will enter OCAA playoffs as the seventh seed and will have to wait until game results on Saturday (Oct. 14) to know who they will play in the opening round on Oct. 18.
