Mountaineers salvage weekend with win over Falcons

After a loss on Friday, Mohawk bounces back at home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (HAMILTON) – Despite a tough weekend schedule in front of them with two matches, Mohawk Mountaineers women's volleyball was able to split the pair. It started on Friday night in Windsor with a 3-0 (17-25, 10-25, 21-25) loss to the St Clair Saints, and then Mohawk immediately returned to Hamilton and played the Fanshawe Falcons, winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-14) on Saturday.

Oct. 27 – Mohawk vs. St. Clair

The first two sets went easily the way of the Saints, but the Mountaineers showed some life in the third set, keeping it close. Mohawk just could not string together consecutive points to keep the match going.

Thea Spasic (Hamilton, ON) was the top offensive player for the Mountaineers with six kills, while Lexie Zicari (Burlington, ON) had five kills and 12 digs.

Oct. 28 – Mohawk vs. Fanshawe

Mohawk got back from Windsor early Saturday morning before playing the Falcons for a 6 p.m. start, and the Mountaineers looked untired.

They dominated the match throughout all three sets with Spasic and Sofia Spoljar (Hamilton, ON) coming away with nine kills each.

Mohawk will now host the Redeemer Royals on Nov. 4, which is Super Saturday for the Mountaineers as all four court sports will be in action. The women's volleyball match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
