Mountaineers roar past Bruins in three sets

Victory puts Mohawk back in the win column

Box Score HAMILTON – Mohawk Mountaineers women's volleyball is back in the win column following a smooth 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-21) victory over the Sheridan Bruins.

It was an easy first set for Mohawk as they cruised to a 13-point win.

Sheridan began to show life in the second set when the Mountaineers had an 18-11 lead. Cutting it to a five-point, Mohawk regained play and took home set two.

The third set continued to favour the Mountaineers at 19-14, but the Bruins pushed back with three straight points to force a Mohawk timeout. The Mountaineers would take back control out of the huddle to take the match.

It was a big game for Lexie Zicari (Burlington, ON) leading Mohawk with 11 kills. Stephanie Karatsolias had setting duties for the Mountaineers and finished the match with 28 assists.

Mohawk's season will continue on Nov. 25 when they travel to play the Niagara Knights. Match start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
