Multiple set comebacks carry Mountaineers to victory over Royals

Mohawk sweeps Redeemer on Super Saturday

Box Score (HAMILTON) – Mohawk Mountaineers women's volleyball fell behind in multiple sets, but were able to rally as a team to defeat the Redeemer Royals 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-21).

In the first set the Royals held a 22-17 lead, but the Mountaineers strung together eight consecutive points to win.

Redeemer once again took advantage early in the second set to gain an advantage, but Mohawk found a way to rally again to win 25-23.

The third set was controlled by the Mountaineers en route to the victory.

Lexie Zicari (Burlington, ON) made it difficult to be stopped, leading Mohawk with 14 kills and four aces. Sofia Spoljar (Hamilton, ON) was impressive offensively as well with 10 kills.

Additionally, Chelsea Vanderwal (Waterdown, ON) finished the match with 29 assists and Emma Becke (Burlington, ON) defensively had 11 digs.

The Mountaineers will be on the road next as they travel to play the Humber Hawks on Nov. 8. Match start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
