PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Mohawk looks to turn fortunes as playoffs tip-off

Mountaineers limp into playoffs; host Lancers

HAMILTON – Both the Mohawk Mountaineers and Loyalist Lancers enter OCAA playoffs having lost their final two regular season games. As the two meet in the qualifying round, only one can end their streak and continue on.

The Matchup:

The Mountaineers had been riddled with injuries en route to their 11-7 regular season record. They began the season with five straight wins and closed out the first half with a 7-3 record.

In the second half Mohawk has played to a 4-4 record as they hobbled into the playoffs.

Loyalist in the OCAA East Division finished the regular season with a 6-12 record. They have a couple impressive victories, including one over the George Brown Huskies who hold the second seed in the east division.

The second half of the season saw the Lancers play to the exact same record as the Mountaineers, at 4-4.

Previous Matchup and History:

Mohawk and Loyalist met during exhibition play prior to this season, with the Mountaineers coming out on top 86-65.

Prior to that the last documented matchup between the two came in exhibition as well, back in 2005. Mohawk won that game as well 86-62.
