Mohawk College to host celebrity basketball game during JUNO Week

HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk College's David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre will host a celebrity basketball game during JUNO Week celebrations. The game will be played Thursday with tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Known as the True North Classic Charity Celebrity Basketball Game, the event is presented by Keysha Freshh and DJ MelBoogie. The high-energy game will feature past and present JUNO nominees and winners alongside Canadian media personalities, community leaders and Mohawk Mountaineers student-athletes.

Two teams – Team True (green jerseys) and Team North (white jerseys) – will compete in the annual event.

The game will be hosted by Ryan Chung, with Babyvaye serving as the official DJ. Alicia "Ace" West and Carmen Spencer have been announced as coaches.

Celebrities expected to participate include Ray Robinson, Tanika Charles, Marlon "Thatdudemcfly" Palmer, Tresor, LTL, Kirk Diamond and Omega Mighty.

Event organizers say prizes will be raffled off throughout the game, including a Toronto Raptors Scottie Barnes jersey, along with giveaways sponsored by the WNBA's Toronto Tempo.

Proceeds from the event will support music education and youth empowerment initiatives through MusiCounts and The Tune In Foundation.

Tickets are $15 and available on Eventbrite. The game can be streamed on the Mohawk Mountaineers YouTube Channel.

The JUNO Awards will be held March 29 at TD Coliseum.
