HAMILTON, Ont. – Iverson Chong (Oakville, Ont.) of the men's basketball team has been named the Mohawk Mountaineers Athlete of the Week for the period of March 16-22.

At the 2026 CCAA National Championship last week, Chong was the Mountaineers' standout performer. He was named a CCAA second-team championship all-star and also received the CCAA Exemplary Leadership Award for his impact on and off the court.
Chong's top performance came in the tournament opener, helping Mohawk advance to the national semi-final. The guard scored a game-high 25 points, hitting three three-pointers while adding six assists and three steals.
Over four games, Chong averaged a team-leading 17.5 points and led the Mountaineers in scoring in each contest. He also averaged 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals, and shot 36.8 per cent from three-point range.
Mohawk finished fourth at the tournament, matching the second-best result in program history.
Athlete of the Week honours are presented by Booster Juice. Located in the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre, Booster Juice is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
