Anderson, Dosen named Mohawk 2025-26 Athletes of the Year

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers held their 58th annual athletic banquet Thursday evening at Carmen's Event Centre, celebrating the 2025–26 season.

After a record-breaking 2024–25 campaign, the Mountaineers continued their momentum this season, with six teams earning OCAA medals and five advancing to the CCAA Championships.

The year was highlighted by the men's cross-country team capturing its second OCAA title in three years.

Individually, Mohawk had five OCAA All-Stars, three All-Rookie selections and 13 OCAA Championship All-Stars. Two head coaches were also named OCAA Coach of the Year.

For the second consecutive year, six of Mohawk's seven league sport teams qualified for the OCAA playoffs.

The success of the season was reflected at Thursday's event, which honoured student-athletes for both athletic and academic achievement.

Outstanding Athletes of the Year

Maddie Anderson was named Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year following a season in which she earned OCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year honours, was named a First-Team All-Star and became the first Mohawk women's basketball player to be named a CCAA All-Canadian since 1990–91.

Men's basketball player Marko Dosen received the Wes Hicks Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year award. The fourth-year forward was an OCAA First-Team All-Star, a Championship All-Star and a CCAA all-Canadian.

Dr. Sam Mitminger Award

Anderson and men's basketball forward Milos Mladjan received the department's highest honour, the Dr. Sam Mitminger Award, presented annually to two graduating student-athletes.

Anderson, a five-year collegiate career, including three seasons with Mohawk, is a two-time OCAA All-Star and an OCAA Champion.

Mladjan, who has been with the Mountaineers since 2018–19, overcame injuries to return to the court. He was part of men's basketball teams that earned OCAA silver and bronze medals.
