HAMILTON, Ont. – For the third time this season both Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) of the women's basketball team and Marko Dosen (Hamilton, Ont.) of men's basketball have been named the Mohawk Mountaineers Athletes of the Week for the period of February 23 – March 1.
Kendra Oliver
Year: 4
Position: Forward
Oliver recorded her ninth double-double of the season, including playoffs, and her fifth straight since Jan. 28. The fourth-year forward delivered one of her strongest performances in Saturday's 66-51 quarter-final win over the Lambton Lions, finishing with 15 points and 15 rebounds, including six offensive boards.
Oliver was difficult to contain in the paint throughout. With Mohawk trailing by two after the first quarter, she scored 11 of her 15 points in the second to give her team a two-point halftime lead – one it would not relinquish.
Over her past six games dating back to Jan. 21, Oliver is averaging 14.2 points and 12.3 rebounds.
Marko Dosen
Year: 4
Position: Forward
Dosen set a season-high with 29 points in the Mountaineers' biggest game of the year, leading the team to a 99-92 overtime win to advance to the OCAA semifinals. The fourth-year forward shot 13-of-16 from the field and added five rebounds, two steals and a block, delivering an efficient performance throughout.
His effort helped Mohawk secure its first quarter-final victory since the 2022-23 season, following back-to-back exits at that stage. Dosen was also named an OCAA West Division First Team All-Star and a CCAA All-Canadian last week.
Athlete of the Week honours are presented by Booster Juice. Located in the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre, Booster Juice is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
