Betty Calic named 2024 CCAA Men’s Curling Coach of the Year

Entire Mohawk men’s curling team named first-team all-stars

FEDERICTON, NB – Mohawk Mountaineers men's curling head coach Betty Calic has added another coach of the year award to her resume.

Following the 2024 CCAA/Curling Canada College Championships this past weekend, Calic was announced the CCAA/Curling Canada Men's Curling Coach of the Year. It is Calic's first national award during her 13-year tenure at Mohawk.

Calic was also named OCAA Men's Curling Coach of the Year after the 2024 provincial championships. It was her third consecutive year winning the OCAA award.

Under Calic this season Mohawk men's curling claimed a CCAA silver and the OCAA Championship, and played to a combined 12-3 record at the two bonspiels. The program has now won back-to-back-to-back provincial championships.

The Mountaineers also swept the 2024 CCAA/Curling Canada First-Team Championship All-Star awards. Mohawk skip Jacob Jones (Brantford, ON), vice Eric Just (Ancaster, ON), second Joel Matthews (Waterdown, ON) and lead Liam Little (Haliburton, ON) were all honoured as first-team all-stars.
