Mountaineers lose two to Hawks

Kayla Makowich’s home run not enough versus Humber

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (ETOBICOKE) – A Sunday evening doubleheader did not favour Mohawk Mountaineers softball, losing to the Humber Hawks 11-1 and 12-2.

Game one: Mohawk 1 – Humber 11

The Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the Mountaineers in the first two innings.

Ashlee LaForme (New Credit, ON) singled home Mohawk's lone run in the third before Humber continued to add more runs.

Game two: Mohawk 2 – Humber 12

The Mountaineers opened the scoring in this one, with Kayla Makowich (Guelph, ON) hitting a leadoff home run. It was Makowhich's first career OCAA home run.

Ella Busch (Orton, ON) would then single home LaForme in the fourth inning for Mohawk's second run, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Hawks.

Oct. 4 will be the next time the Mountaineers are in action. They will host the Seneca Sting at Mohawk Sports Park with the doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m.
