Box Score 1 KITCHENER, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers women's softball team saw its 2025 season end Friday night, falling 8-6 to the Conestoga Condors. Game 2 of the scheduled doubleheader was called off due to inclement weather.
The Mountaineers entered the day needing to win both games to keep their OCAA playoff hopes alive, but the loss in the opener sealed their fate.
Conestoga opened the scoring with two runs in the third inning. Mohawk's Ashka Pieris-Stevens (Milton, Ont.) responded in the fourth with an RBI single to cut the lead in half, but the Condors struck for four more runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-1.
Mountaineers starting pitcher Ashlee LaForme (New Credit, Ont.) exited the game in the fourth inning with an injury.
Mohawk began to rally in the fifth when Zoey Lorentz (Kitchener, Ont.) doubled to centre field to drive in a run. A Conestoga error in the sixth allowed another Mountaineers run to score, narrowing the gap to 6-3.
The Condors pushed two more across in their half of the sixth to extend the lead to 8-3. Mohawk mounted one final push in the seventh – a bases-loaded walk by Maggie Lupton (Binbrook, Ont.), an error that allowed another run to score, and a Grace Purdy (Hamilton, Ont.) walk made it 8-6 – but the comeback fell short on a flyout to centre field.
Game 2 saw Mohawk jump ahead 7-1 through two and a half innings before heavy rainfall forced the game to be halted and ultimately not completed.
The Mountaineers conclude their 2025 campaign with a 5-14 record.
