HAMILTON, Ont. – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced its 2025 softball award winners on Wednesday, with one Mohawk Mountaineer earning recognition.
First-year catcher and outfielder Genevieve Fry (Beamsville, Ont.) was named an OCAA Second-Team All-Star and selected to the All-Rookie Team.
Fry made an immediate impact in her debut season, consistently batting near the top of the Mountaineers' lineup. In 19 games, she hit an even .400 with 26 hits, four doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 RBIs, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases.
Among first-year student-athletes, Fry ranked fifth in batting average, fourth in hits, tied for third in extra-base hits and tied for second in home runs.
Fry's versatility was a major asset for Mohawk. Behind the plate, she demonstrated strong game-calling skills and limited opponents' stolen-base attempts. In the outfield, she showcased excellent range and field awareness.
Fry becomes just the second Mountaineer since 2023 – the year the All-Rookie Team was introduced – to earn both All-Star and All-Rookie honours in the same season.
