Playoff Preview: Mountaineers return to playoffs with eyes on OCAA medal

(ETOBICOKE) – Mohawk Mountaineers softball is back in the OCAA playoffs since 2017 after finishing this season with a 10-14 record. The nine-win improvement from a season ago placed the Mountaineers in the fifth seed and sets them up to play the Fanshawe Falcons.
 
The Matchup:
 
Mohawk's play down the stretch of the 2023 season carries a lot of momentum into playoffs. The Mountaineers won four consecutive games, helping them earn a postseason berth.
 
Fanshawe played to one win better than Mohawk, finishing with a 11-13 record. The Falcons closed their season out winning 10 of their final 14.
 
Previous Matchup and History:
 
The Mountaineers swept the Falcons through three regular season games this season. Mohawk's first win came early in the season, defeating Fanshawe 7-6, and then in the Mountaineers final two games of the season they won 11-6 and 5-4 over the Falcons.
 
Prior to this year, Fanshawe had won 14 consecutive versus Mohawk dating back to 2018.
