Another doubleheader split for Mountaineers softball

Mohawk holds regular season record at .500

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (SARNIA) – Mohawk Mountaineers softball continued the early part of the 2023 season on the road, splitting a doubleheader matchup versus the Lambton Lions. The Mountaineers are now 3-3 on the season.

Mohawk won game one 6-3 thanks to key insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Lambton would open the scoring in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. In the third the Mountaineers would get one back to tie it up.

The Lions would regain their lead, but in the top half of the sixth the Mountaineers would score a pair to go up 3-2. Mohawk would add three more in the seventh to win the ballgame.

Game two saw both teams bring their offense early as the Lions led 12-4 after three. While the Mountaineers would then hold them to one run the rest of the game, Mohawk couldn't put together a comeback, ultimately losing 13-7.

Mohawk will be back on the road Sunday when they play the St. Clair Saints in Windsor, ON. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
