Mountaineers snap losing streak; split doubleheader

A win over Conestoga stops Mohawk losing streak at six

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (ETOBICOKE) – Mohawk Mountaineers women's softball ended their six-game losing streak with an 8-6 win over the Conestoga Condors. However, with a doubleheader day, the Mountaineers also lost 11-0 to the Humber Hawks.

Game one: Mohawk 8 – Conestoga 6

The victory favoured the Mountaineers for a majority of the game as they took an 8-3 lead into the final inning. Conestoga would add three, but Mohawk held on for the win.

Chantal Tripp (Brampton, ON) pitched a complete game for the Mountaineers.

Game two: Mohawk 0 – Humber 11

Mohawk hung around early in this contest, holding Humber to a 1-0 lead after two frames. The Hawks added four in the third as they went on to defeat the Mountaineers.

Softball action returns to Hamilton on Sept. 24 as Mohawk hosts the St. Clair Saints and Seneca Sting. Game one begins at 1:30 p.m. and the second game will follow at approximately 4 p.m.
