BRAMPTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers defeated the Humber Hawks 16-9 on Sunday in the first-ever CUFLA Sixes Showcase featuring two college teams.

The matchup, part of the CUFLA Baggataway Cup weekend at Terry Fox Stadium, marked the second meeting between the two programs this season. Mohawk also won an exhibition game against Humber in October by the same 16-9 score.

The Hawks opened the scoring before Mohawk quickly tied it, and the teams ended the first quarter deadlocked at 1-1. Humber built a 3-1 lead early in the second quarter and held a narrow 6-5 advantage at halftime.

In the third quarter, Mohawk evened the game before Humber responded with two shorthanded goals to go up 8-6. The Mountaineers then seized momentum, scoring four straight goals to carry a 10-8 lead into the fourth.

Mohawk extended its lead to 11-8 early in the final quarter. After Humber cut the deficit to two, the Mountaineers closed the game with five unanswered goals to secure the victory.

The win marked Mohawk's second appearance in a CUFLA Sixes Showcase, following a 23-21 loss to the Milton Chaos Senior C team in 2024.

The Mountaineers conclude their 2025 campaign with a 6-3 record, highlighted by two victories over Humber and a pair of wins against university opponents.
