Mohawk, Algonquin meet in OCAA playoffs for second straight year

OTTAWA – For the second straight year Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball will meet the No. 2 nationally ranked Algonquin Wolves in the OCAA playoffs, but this time the Mountaineers will aim for a different result.

The Matchup:

Both Mohawk and Algonquin advanced to the OCAA quarter-final round with ease, winning their respective qualifying round games.

The Mountaineers defeated the Loyalist Lancers by 52 points, 90-38. Mohawk led for the entirety of the game with Maddie Anderson (Whitby, ON) leading all scorers with 22.

For the Wolves, they defeated the Conestoga Condors 62-46 to advance in the playoffs. Algonquin found themselves trailing after the first quarter but took charge of the game in the second before pulling away in the final quarter.

Previous Matchup and History:

These two teams met in the OCAA playoffs a year ago during the qualifying round with the Wolves coming out on top 69-53. Mohawk never held a lead during that game.
