Mountaineers swept in home contest

Box Score HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team were handed a 3-0 loss to start the second half of the 2024-25 season by the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Falcons carried momentum right from the opening set when they found themselves leading 12-7, forcing a Mountaineer timeout. Fanshawe's lead would grow to double digits as they would go on to win the opening set 25-14.

Mohawk played a much stronger second set as they registered a lead early. After some late trading of points, the Mountaineers made some unforced errors, to give the Falcons a 25-23 second set victory.

The Falcons would again take complete control in the third set, holding a lead for its entirety, en route to defeating the Mountaineers 25-14.

Ethan May (Dunnville, Ont.) was Mohawk's offensive leader with nine kills.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on January 11 when they travel to Welland, Ont. to play the Niagara Knights. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
