Men’s volleyball welcomes five recruits ahead of 2026-27 season

HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball head coach Brad McClure is excited to announce the commitment of five recruits to the program ahead of the 2026-27 season.

2026-27 MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECRUITING CLASS

Alexander Ko
Hometown: Markham, Ont.
High School: Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School
Position: Left Side
Program: Supply Chain Management
Previous School: York University

Notable career highlights:
Ko joins the Mountaineers after playing four seasons with the York University Lions. With the Lions, Ko was part of a program that had top four finishes in the OUA during the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons. He appeared in 23 matches across four seasons, and totaled 143 kills, 126 digs and 17 total blocks.

Robert VanDasselaar
Hometown: Brantford, Ont.
High School: Guido de Bres Christian High School
Position: Outside Hitter
Program: Energy Systems Engineering Technology

Notable career highlights:
VanDasselaar was part of a duo that claimed provincial beach volleyball gold in 2022.

Malaki Forde
Hometown: Niagara, Ont.
High School: Kelowna Secondary
Position: Middle
Program: Pre-health

Tell us one interesting fact about you:
"One interesting fact about me is that I only started playing volleyball recently after growing up playing basketball. Also, I have nine siblings, so life has always been busy and competitive."

Diego Peralta
Hometown: Kitchener, Ont.
High School: Kitchener Collegiate Institute
Position: Setter
Program: Construction Engineering Technician – Building Renovation

Why did you choose Mohawk?
"I chose Mohawk for its atmosphere and program. The guys on the team were very welcoming and kind, and the program was exactly what I wanted school wise."

Grayson Whiteway
Hometown: Manitouwadge, Ont.
High School: Manitouwadge High School
Position: Right Side
Program: Electrical Engineering Technology
Previous School: Canadore College

Why did you choose Mohawk?
"I chose Mohawk because it's a great opportunity for me to excel athletically and academically. Their electrical engineering program stood out to me because of its strong reputation across Ontario. The men's volleyball team is one of the top teams in the OCAA and after visiting in the spring, I realized the coaching staff and team culture they had is something I wanted to be apart of."
